MAKING of the SCARVES

The Scarves are hand and machine sewn, handmade embellishments such as fringes, beads, tassels and pom-poms are added by hand stitching. Some non fraying sides and ends are deliberately left unsewn to allow the delicate fabrics to freely 'drape and flow'.

MEASUREMENTS

The approximate sizes (may vary by 1-3cms) of the scarves are given in the 'Product Details' in cms.

For Infinity Loop Scarves and Cowls - the width W, length of loop L and circumference of loop C.

For Open End, Fringe End, Tassel End, Pom-Pom End, Single Length Scarf this includes the widthand length L without the fringe, tassels and pom-poms.

For Shawls and Wraps, rectangular or square this includes the length L and width W

The length of the fringes/tassels/pom-poms are listed in the product details.

FABRIC CONTENTS

The fabric content for each scarf is listed on the 'Product Details' and the thickness of the material is described as 'light, medium or heavy weight'. The light weight fabrics include the floaty, flimsy chiffons and georgettes, medium weight include the lighter cottons, viscose, jersey, the heavier weights include the thicker and generally warmer jerseys, fleece, acrylics and fabrics with a wool content.

COLOURS SHOWN in IMAGES

Scarves are described by 'colour names' in common usage.

The scarves are photographed outside in natural light and I have tried to represent the colours as accurately as possible. The colours shown on your monitor screens cannot be guaranteed. Please be aware that different computer monitor screens may display the colours slightly differently.

WASHING & CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Please refer to individual 'Product Listings' for specific instructions for the item's fabric.

  • HAND WASH ONLY in lukewarm water with a mild detergent.
  • Gentle hand wring only or leave excess rinsing water to drain naturally.
  • Do not spin dry. Do not tumble dry.
  • Shake gently or pull to shape and drape over rounded support to drip dry in air.
  • (N.B. If present allow FRINGE of tassels, pom-poms, threads to hang freely vertically when drying).
  • Or lay flat and allow to dry over an absorbent towel.
  • Iron on LOW heat setting ONLY if necessary.

PRECAUTIONS

NB. Take care with your jewellery, pointed objects, rough surfaces and sharp/jagged nails. The fabric for some of the scarves (especially the lightweight, floaty material) is quite delicate and the fibres will 'pull' if snagged.

KEEP AWAY FROM FIRE - Safety Advice

Take care to keep the long loop and free ends of the scarf/shawl away from open fires, hot stoves,  hand held fireworks (sparklers), bonfire flames, lit candles and similar.
